Transdermal Pulsed Radiofrequency Therapy for Nerve Problems

December 28, 2024 admin Comments Off

Nerve pain, injury, and dysfunction have been very difficult to treat. Nerves can become damaged from trauma like an accident or fall, through systemic conditions like diabetes, or through long-term repetitive strain, like carpal tunnel syndrome. The main treatment has been either to surgically move the pressure to the nerve like in carpal tunnel surgery, or to medicate the nerve heavily to reduce the pain. However, if the nerve has already been damaged, surgery may not work, as the surgery removes the pressure to the nerve but not necessarily heal the nerve.

Also, nerve medication may work well in the beginning, but as the nerve injury gets worse or the body builds tolerance to medication, the effect of medication may decline. Another way to deal with nerve pain is to burn the nerve by introducing radiofrequency to the nerve via needle to superheat the nerve. However, the nerve grows back in about a year, and the pain returns eventually.

The common theme to current nerve injury treatment is that none of the standard treatment actually heals the nerve. They either destroy, medicate, or remove pressure on the nerve, but there is actually no healing treatment being done to the nerve. Xavant NMS460, also called Stimpod, is the first machine of its kind designed to actually heal the nerve. By introducing a very small radiofrequency to the nerve at a precise spot through skin using a small probe and stimulating the nerve, it can actually begin healing injured nerve. The procedure is called Transdermal Pulsed Radiofrequency Therapy.

It has been introduced to the USA only a few years ago, and it has been quietly gaining popularity and enthusiastic recommendation from healthcare providers and patients. Common problems treated with the Stimpod is Sciata, Diabetic Neuropathy, Peripheral Neuropathy, Foot Drop, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, Bell’s Palsy, Migraine, Cervical and Lumbar Radiculopathy.

It seems that more uses for the Stimpod is being discovered everyday as it is effective for almost any nerve-related problems. The Stimpod is currently being used at NY Disc Chiropractic in conjunction with other therapies to help patients recover from their nerve-related injuries.
